On December 17 and December 30, the Garden Grove Police Department will conduct two driving under the influence (DUI) checkpoints from 9:00 p.m. until 3:00 a.m. at an undisclosed location within the City of Garden Grove.

Next week is the last opportunity to turn in receipts for the City of Garden Grove’s end-of-year Buy in Garden Grove (BiGG) campaign, Black Friday Goes BiGG, offering Garden Grove shoppers the opportunity to win $500, $250, a 1-night stay at the Great Wolf Lodge Southern California, and more.

This is the last week to participate in the City’s 2022 Garden Grove Holiday Drive, which aims to give new toys, board games, and gift cards to local children in need.

On Friday, December 9, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Santa Rita Avenue, between Winton Street and St. Mark Street, in Garden Grove, will be closed for the annual Jingle Jam holiday event. There will also be no parking on Vanguard Avenue, between Winton Street and St. Mark Street.

Garden Grove Police Chief Tom DaRé has notified Garden Grove City Manager Scott Stiles of his decision to retire from the City of Garden Grove, after 32 years of service, three and-a-half-years as police chief. His official retirement date is December 31, 2022.

In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, Garden Grove City Hall and the H. Louis Lake Senior Center will be closed on Thursday, November 24, 2022, and on Friday, November 25, 2022. No street sweeping services will be provided on Thursday, November 24, 2022.

On December 31, 2021, the State of California ended the water shutoff moratorium. Despite the state ending the moratorium, the City of Garden Grove continued providing water service to customers with delinquent accounts and waiving late fees, which will now end on Saturday, December 31, 2022.

The City of Garden Grove, in collaboration with Republic Services, invites the community to attend a presentation on the new state-mandated Organics Recycling program focused on residential food waste recycling. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, from 6:00 p.m.

During the rainy season, the City of Garden Grove, in conjunction with Orange County Fire Authority, provides up to 10 free sandbags to residents.
