Beginning next Monday, June 8 through Friday, June 26, the City will host the Tree Art Contest social media challenge, inviting friends and followers of @gardengrovecityhall Facebook page to vote on tree art created by local students in kindergarten through 12th grades.
To participate, visit the City’s Facebook page, @gardengrovecityhall, “Like” and “Follow” the page, and click on “Photos.” Four photo albums will be displayed, denoting age categories: K-3rd; 4th-6th; 7th-9th; and 10th-12th.
Facebook users may judge each age category by liking their favorite work of art. The post with the most likes in each age category will be determined the winner. Judging ends at 5:00 p.m., on Friday, June 26, 2020.
The winners will receive a cash prize of $100 and recognition on the City’s website and social pages.
Winners will be announced on Monday, June 29, 2020.
The Tree Art Contest is part of the Urban Forest Management Plan (UFMP), a guide for enhancing and growing an urban forest in Garden Grove. Through participation, local youth learn the importance of trees and how they impact the health and well-being of the environment.
The deadline to submit artwork online is this Thursday, June 4, at 5:30 p.m.
