(Chicago, Illinois)—Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to City of Garden Grove for its comprehensive annual financial report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2021.

Last night, hundreds filled the Garden Grove Community Meeting Center to celebrate the official swearing-in of Garden Grove's 14th police chief Amir El-Farra.

Today, Friday, January 20, 2023, at 3:00 p.m., Historic Main Street will close for the Friday Night Car Show, and will remain closed through 6:00 a.m. on Monday, January 23, 2023, during the Flower Street event.

Seniors are invited to attend the City of Garden Grove’s H. Louis Lake Senior Center’s International Week, from Tuesday, January 17, 2023 to Friday, January 20, 2023, 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at 11300 Stanford Avenue.

In observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday, Garden Grove City Hall and the H. Louis Lake Senior Center will be closed on Monday, January 16, 2023.

The City of Garden Grove, in partnership with Republic Services, will host a series of community cleanup days throughout the city in an effort to help residents properly dispose of bulky items for free. The first cleanup day event will take place on Saturday, February 11, 2023, from 9:00 a.m.

The City of Garden Grove’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) will host a free 20-hour workshop to train individuals to prepare for and recover from disasters, as well as learn various life-saving skills.

The City of Garden Grove is now accepting online applications for sworn and non-sworn positions. The deadline to apply is Monday, January 30, 2023. To apply online, visit www.ggpd.org/join.

In observance of the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays, Garden Grove City Hall and the H. Louis Lake Senior Center will be closed from Monday, December 26, 2022 through Monday, January 2, 2023.

Garden Grove City Manager Scott Stiles has named Deputy Chief Amir El-Farra as Garden Grove’s new chief of police. A 27-year law enforcement veteran, El-Farra became the department’s deputy chief in 2021, serving second in command to former police chief Tom DaRé.
