City Hosts Free Bulky Item Drop-Off Sites Beginning January 24

The City of Garden Grove and Garden Grove Sanitary District, in collaboration with Republic Services, will host a series of community cleanup days, offering residents the opportunity to dispose of bulky items for free. The first of six events will take place on Saturday, January 24, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at Pacifica High School, located at 6851 Lampson Avenue. The event will also include household battery recycling and paper shredding services.

City of Garden Grove Facilities and Services Schedule on Martin Luther King Jr Day

In observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the City of Garden Grove will follow the schedule below for its facilities and services on Monday, January 19, 2026:

Garden Grove City Hall

• Garden Grove City Hall will be closed.

Resource Centers

• The Garden Grove Community Meeting Center, H. Louis Lake Senior Center, and Magnolia Park Family Resource Center will be closed.

Recreational Facilities

• Atlantis Play Center will be closed.

Upcoming Free Virtual Workshops for Garden Grove's First-Time Home Buyer Program

The City of Garden Grove, in partnership with NeighborWorks Orange County, a HUD-approved counseling agency, is offering a series of free virtual workshops to help first-time homebuyers navigate the home buying process. These workshops will feature information about the City’s First-Time Home Buyer Program, which offers eligible homebuyers up to $110,000 in down payment and/or closing cost assistance at 0% interest. The first virtual workshop will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, from 5:45 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Registration is required.

City of Garden Grove Launches Grow Garden Grove Fund to Support Small Businesses

The City of Garden Grove is launching the Grow Garden Grove Fund, a new small business loan program designed to expand access to capital and support local economic growth.

“The Grow Garden Grove Fund reflects our commitment to supporting local businesses through strong partnerships and smart investment,” said Mayor Stephanie Klopfenstein. “Working with Grow America allows us to connect Garden Grove entrepreneurs with capital and resources that help them succeed.”

In observance of the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays from Thursday, December 25, 2025, to Thursday, January 1, 2026, the City of Garden Grove facilities and services listed below will adhere to the following schedules.

Garden Grove City Hall

Garden Grove City Hall will be closed from Thursday, December 25, 2025, through Thursday, January 1, 2026.

Temporary Road Closures During King Shocks Toy Drive Event

On Saturday, December 20, 2025, various streets in Garden Grove will be temporarily closed for the King Shocks Toy Drive community event. The streets surrounding the perimeter of King Shocks, located at 12472 Edison Way, will be closed from 3:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 20. Streets include:

• Lampson Avenue, from Knott Street to Monarch Street
• Edison Way, from Belgrave Avenue to Lampson Avenue
• Industry Street, from Lampson Avenue to Chapman Avenue
• Belgrave Avenue, from Industry Street to Knott Street

Final Days for Garden Grove Shoppers to Win 'BiGG'' This Holiday Season

Garden Grove shoppers have until Thursday, December 18, to participate in the City of Garden Grove’s end-of-year Buy in Garden Grove (BiGG) campaign, Black Friday Goes BiGG, which offers chances to win $500, $250, a one-night stay at the Great Wolf Lodge Southern California, and a restaurant gift certificate.

The deadline to submit receipts is 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 18. Please note that the Garden Grove Chamber of Commerce will close early on Wednesday, December 17, at 3:30 p.m.
