Due to high temperatures, the City of Garden Grove will open a public cooling center from Friday, October 2, through Sunday, October 4, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The cooling center is located at the Garden Grove Sports and Recreation Center, 13641 Deodara Drive, in Garden Grove Park. If high temperatures persist, cooling center operations may be extended beyond Sunday, Oct. 4.

All ages are welcome to enjoy the center’s air-conditioned accommodations. Visitors will have access to the center’s lobby and restrooms. Food will not be available. No pets are allowed except for service animals.

Also, the H. Louis Lake Senior Center, located at 11300 Stanford Avenue, will extend its hours to 5:00 p.m., on October 2, for seniors only.

OC Public Libraries locations also serve as designated cooling centers during regular operating hours. In Garden Grove, the Chapman Library and Tibor Rubin Library are available as cooling centers. Visitors are encouraged to contact the library before visiting to confirm hours of operation.
