Free Bulky Item Drop Off, Household Battery Collection, And Paper Shredding At Garden Grove Public Works on November 8

The City of Garden Grove and Garden Grove Sanitary District, in collaboration with Republic Services, will host a final community cleanup event for 2025, offering residents the opportunity to dispose of bulky items, recycle household batteries, and obtain paper shredding services for free. The event will take place on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at Garden Grove Public Works, located at 13802 Newhope Street.

City of Garden Grove Facilities and Services Schedule on Veterans Day Holiday

In observance of the Veterans Day holiday, Tuesday, November 11, 2025, the City of Garden Grove and the H. Louis Lake Senior Center will be closed. Street sweeping services will not be provided on the holiday and will resume the following day. Trash pick-up will remain as scheduled.

Garden Grove Senior Center Lunch Cafe Temporarily Relocating During Facility Closure

The H. Louis Lake Senior Center will temporarily close from Monday, October 27, through Friday, November 7, 2025, and tentatively on Monday, November 10, through Friday, November 14, 2025 to allow for a planned roof replacement project at the Senior Center. During construction, the Lunch Café lunch service will be relocated to the Garden Grove Courtyard Center, located at 12732 Main Street, Garden Grove, CA 92840.

Upcoming Education Course for Garden Grove's First-Time Home Buyer Program

Prospective homebuyers are encouraged to attend an upcoming HUD-approved homebuyer education course, which is required to qualify for the City of Garden Grove’s First-Time Home Buyer Program. Eligible first-time homebuyers can apply for up to $110,000 in down payment and/or closing cost assistance at 0% interest through the program.

Statewide Special Election Vote Center and Ballot Drop Box Locations in Garden Grove

Garden Grove voters are encouraged to participate in the statewide special election on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, to vote on Proposition 50, the Use of Legislative Congressional Redistricting Map Amendment. Early voting will be available at designated Vote Centers and Ballot Drop Boxes in Garden Grove.

Vanguard Avenue to Close for Community Event

On Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Vanguard Avenue, between Winton Street and St. Mark Street, will close for the Chili Cook-Off and Car Show community event. Motorists are asked to plan accordingly to avoid delays.

The Chili Cook-Off and Car Show will be held at Eastgate Park, at 12001 St. Mark Street, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Residents in the area should expect an increase of pedestrian traffic during event hours.
