Free Outdoor Movie Series Continues with Topgun: Maverick

The community is invited to an evening under the stars with a free movie in the park, on Friday, August 11, in Garden Grove Park, at 9301 Westminster Blvd. The featured movie, Topgun: Maverick, begins at 8:30 p.m. The 40-foot screen will be set up near the large picnic pavilion. Gates open at 7:30 p.m.

Kettle corn, ice cream, shaved ice, and lemonade will be available for purchase from local food vendor C&M Ohana. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.

Donate School Supplies to Local Youth in Need

As the new school year approaches, the City of Garden Grove’s family resource centers invite the community to participate in the Back to School Drive, a program designed to equip local youth in need with resources to help them succeed at school. Now through Friday, August 4, the City is accepting donations of backpacks, notebook paper, binders, pencils, calculators, and gift cards and monetary donations.

City Launches New Program to Provide Free Services to Childcare Businesses

Today, the City of Garden Grove and WeeCare, the nation’s largest childcare network, launch the new BOOST (Business Operations and Optimization Support Tool) program to provide income-eligible home childcare providers with free business support and technical tools for one year. Providers can access an application portal from the City’s website at ggcity.org/boost.

City Announces Openings for Home Repair Grant Program

The City of Garden Grove announces new funding for the Home Repair Program to assist qualified low-income Garden Grove residents receive up to $5,000 for home improvements. The grant does not need to be repaid. The first application period starts Friday, June 23, 2023, at 9:00 a.m., through Friday, July 7, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. To apply, visit apply.ggcity.org/prog/home_repair_program.

The homeowner is required to contribute a minimum of $500 of their own funds towards the repairs. Major repairs to the home that are above $5,000 will not be considered for the Home Repair Program.

Heavy Traffic, Temporary Road Closures During Diocese of Orange Marian Days Event

From Friday, July 14, through Saturday, July 15, 2023, the second annual Marian Days event will take place at the Christ Cathedral, located at 13280 Chapman Avenue. During the two-day event, heavy traffic is anticipated in the immediate area. Motorists are asked to plan accordingly to avoid delays.

On Saturday, July 15, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., traffic on Chapman Avenue, from Grant Place to Lewis Street, will be reduced to one lane to allow for the Rosary Procession. Residents in the area should expect heavier traffic in the area.

Garden Grove Police Department - Celebrate Fourth of July Weekend Responsibly

The Garden Grove Police Department reminds drivers to do their part to keep everyone safe on the road this Fourth of July weekend by planning ahead and celebrating the holiday responsibly.

This weekend through Tuesday, July 4, the Garden Grove Police Department will have additional officers on patrol looking for drivers suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

Golf Cart Parade to Cause Temporary Road Blockages

On Saturday, July 1, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., various streets in Garden Grove will be temporarily blocked for the Independence Day Freedom Golf Cart Parade. There will also be no parking around the perimeter of Eastgate Park, located at 12001 St. Mark Street, and on both sides of Santa Rita Avenue, between Winton Street and St. Mark Street, from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Motorists are asked to plan accordingly.

Residents in the area should expect heavier traffic in the area. Residents have been notified in advance.
