Planning Commissioner Applications Due this Friday
The application deadline to serve as a non-compensated commissioner on the Garden Grove Planning Commission is this Friday, July 5, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. Applicants must be and remain a Garden Grove resident and a registered voter until the term expires in December 2024. To apply online, visit ggcity.org/city-clerk/applications, or visit the City Clerk’s Office, located on the 2nd floor of Garden Grove City Hall, at 11222 Acacia Parkway.
City Reminds Community of $1,000 Fine for Illegal Fireworks
The City of Garden Grove is raising awareness against illegal firework use and the enforcement of the city’s zero tolerance policy in the form of a $1,000 fine.
“On July 4, additional Garden Grove police sergeants, officers, and administrative staff will be dedicated to firework enforcement throughout the city to apprehend and cite individuals who are caught using or possessing illegal fireworks,” said Garden Grove Police Chief Amir El-Farra.
RSVP Today for July 13 Free Homebuyer Day Event
Potential homeowners interested in learning more about down payment assistance, understanding the home buying process, credit readiness, financing, and more are encouraged to RSVP soon for the City of Garden Grove’s 2024 Homebuyer Day. The event takes place on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at the Garden Grove Community Meeting Center, at 11300 Stanford Avenue. A resource fair will take place from 10:00 a.m.
Golf Cart Parade to Cause Temporary Road Blockages Saturday
On Saturday, June 29, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., various streets in Garden Grove will be temporarily blocked for the Independence Golf Cart Parade. There will also be no parking around the perimeter of Eastgate Park, located at 12001 St. Mark Street, and on both sides of Santa Rita Avenue, between Winton Street and St. Mark Street, from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Motorists are asked to plan accordingly.
Residents should expect heavier traffic in the area. Residents have been notified in advance.
Garden Grove Police Department - Celebrate Fourth of July Responsibly
The Garden Grove Police Department reminds drivers to be the real heroes of the night by prioritizing the safety of everyone on the road this Fourth of July. Plan ahead and celebrate the holiday responsibly.
Beginning Monday, July 1 through Sunday, July 7, the Garden Grove Police Department will have additional officers on patrol looking for drivers suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
Funding Now Available for Home Repairs
The City of Garden Grove announces new funding is now available for the City’s Home Repair Program. The grant program assists qualified low-income Garden Grove residents with receiving up to $5,000 to make home improvements. The grants do not need to be repaid to the City and are designed for minor home repairs. The homeowner is required to contribute a minimum of $500 of their own funds towards the repairs. Major repairs to the home that are above $5,000 will not be considered for the Home Repair Program.

37th Annual "Call to Duty" Police Memorial in Garden Grove (2024)
The City of Garden Grove honors and will never forget six Officers who gave their lives protecting the City. Sergeant Myron L. Trapp, Officer Andy Reese, Officer Donald F. Reed, Officer Michael Rainford, Master Officer Howard Dallies Jr., and Lieutenant John Reynolds made the ultimate sacrifice. Hundreds of people came out to join the Garden Grove Police Department and the City honoring these men and their families.
