Friday, December 8, 2023, is the last day to participate in the City of Garden Grove’s 25th Annual Holiday Drive, which aims to bring holiday cheer to local disadvantaged youth and seniors. New and unwrapped toys, board games, sports equipment, gift cards, and other essential supplies can be dropped off at:

Starting Friday, December 1, 2023, at 9:00 a.m., qualified low-income Garden Grove residents can apply for the City of Garden Grove’s Home Repair Program, which offers grant funding of up to $5,000 for minor home improvements. The grant does not need to be repaid. The application deadline is through Friday, December 15, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. To apply, visit apply.ggcity.org.

The homeowner will be required to contribute a minimum of $500 of their own funds towards the repairs. Major repairs to the home that are above $5,000 will not be considered for the Home Repair Program.

The City of Garden Grove is seeking a qualified program operator to oversee the City’s Rental Assistance Program, providing supportive housing services to individuals who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Through a Request for Proposals (RFP) process, non-profit organizations experienced with housing support for the homeless are invited to submit a proposal for consideration at https://gg.city/ni-rfp by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2023.

On Tuesday, November 28, 2023, the Garden Grove City Council and the Garden Grove Police Department will honor Garden Grove Police Corporal Han Cho with a plaque dedication and unveiling. The ceremony will take place at 5:30 p.m., at the west entrance of the Garden Grove Community Meeting Center, at 11300 Stanford Avenue.

Corporal Cho was tragically killed during an off-duty motorcycle accident on Monday, August 7, on his way back from work as a Garden Grove Police officer. He served the City of Garden Grove for 28 years.

Water is our most precious resource. We need it to live and we expect it to flow when we turn on the tap. The cost of pumping, treating and delivering water to our homes and businesses is going up like everything else. A water rate study has determined that the City of Garden Grove will need to raise the price of water slightly in order to cover the costs. You can speak on the subject or ask questions at public hearings to be held in the Garden Grove City Council Chambers on November 28th and December 12th. In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, Garden Grove City Hall and the H. Louis Lake Senior Center will be closed on Thursday, November 23, 2023, and Friday, November 24, 2023. No street sweeping services will be provided on Thursday, November 23, 2023, and Friday, November 24, 2023. Street sweeping services will resume on Monday, November 27, 2023. Trash pick-up will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week.
