Spruce Up Your Front Yard for Garden Grove Gems Home Beautification Program

The City of Garden Grove invites homeowners to start sprucing up their home’s front yards for Garden Grove Gems, a home beautification program that recognizes residents for their home’s outstanding curb appeal. Residents can nominate their homes online from Monday, April 1 through Wednesday, April 24. Online voting will take place from Monday, May 6 to Sunday, May 19. Winning homes will receive citywide recognition with homeowners invited to an awards reception hosted by the Garden Grove City Council.

Learn About Housing Rights at Free Fair Housing Workshops Available in Multiple Languages

The City of Garden Grove in collaboration with the Fair Housing Foundation invites tenants, landlords, managers, property owners, attorneys, realtors, and management companies to attend a free Garden Grove Fair Housing Workshop to learn about your rights and responsibilities. Meetings will be held in February, March, and May in various locations throughout the city. Presentations will be available in multiple languages.

Super Bowl Sunday DUI Enforcement

As the excitement builds for Super Bowl LVIII, the Garden Grove Police Department reminds football fans to intercept impaired driving if they’re heading out to a Super Bowl party and plan on drinking. Make sure you stick to the “Go Safely” game plan and choose a sober way to go.

On Super Bowl LVIII Sunday (Feb. 11), the Garden Grove Police Department will have additional officers on patrol looking for drivers suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

Main Street to Close for Upcoming Community Event

On Friday, February 9, 2024, at 3:00 p.m., Historic Main Street will close and remain closed through 9:00 a.m. on Monday, February 12, 2024, for the Flower Street event. Parking on Historic Main Street will be restricted during that time. Historic Main Street will be accessible to pedestrians, and businesses will remain open.

The Friday Night Car Show scheduled for Friday, February 9, has been canceled to allow for the set-up of the Flower Street event.

The Flower Street event will be held on Saturday, February 10 through Sunday, February 11.

Winter and Spring Parks and Recreation Guide Offers Classes, Activities, Events

The Winter and Spring 2024 Garden Grove Parks and Recreation Guide is now available for viewing at ggparksandrec.com. The guide provides a multitude of programs, classes, activities, and special events through Tuesday, April 30, 2024. City Invites Community to Events and Programs Starting in Early 2024

The City of Garden Grove announces the following events and programs starting in early 2024.

  • Community Clean Up Days – The City is hosting six community cleanup days in an effort to help residents properly dispose of bulky items for free. The first event takes place on Saturday, January 27, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at Pacifica High School, located at 6851 Lampson Avenue. For more information, visit ggcity.org/cleanup-days.

Youth Welcome to Attend Upcoming Disaster Preparedness Training

Openings are still available for the City of Garden Grove’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Academy, which now welcomes youth, 14 years and older, to attend with a legal parent or guardian enrolled in the academy. The free 20-hour workshop will train individuals to prepare for and recover from disasters, as well as learn various life-saving skills. The program will be held on Thursdays, February 8, February 15, February 22, and Saturday, February 24. Class will meet from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursdays, and 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
