City Hall Closed, No Street Sweeping on Independence Day
In observance of the Independence Day holiday, Garden Grove City Hall and the H. Louis Lake Senior Center will be closed on Thursday, July 4, 2024, and will reopen on Friday, July 5, 2024.
Street sweeping services will not be provided on the holiday and will resume the next day. Trash pick-up will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week.

Filing Period for November Elections Begins July 15
Beginning Monday, July 15, 2024, the City of Garden Grove will be accepting nomination papers for Mayor and three Council Member seats for Districts 2, 5,
and 6, for the November 5, 2024 election. Nomination papers are available at the City Clerk’s Office on the 2nd floor of Garden Grove City Hall, at 11222 Acacia Parkway, by appointment only. To make an appointment, call (714) 741-5040 or email cityclerk@ggcity.org. The deadline to file completed paperwork is Friday, August 9, 2024.
Online Survey Added for Input on Housing, Community Development Funding Allocations
The City of Garden Grove is seeking the community’s input in determining how federal funds will be used in housing, community development, and infrastructure projects. An online community needs survey addressing topics such as housing, small business programs, public transit, and quality of life, can now be accessed through the City’s website at ggcity.org/neighborhood-improvement. The survey is available in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese.
City Hall Open, Street Sweeping Services Scheduled on Juneteenth Wednesday, June 19
Garden Grove City Hall will be open on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 (also known as Juneteenth), during regular business hours, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Street sweeping services will not be interrupted and streets will be swept as scheduled.

Free Outdoor Movie Series Begins with "Barbie"
The City of Garden Grove’s free Outdoor Movie Series begins on Friday, June 14, 2024 with the showing of a 2023 fantasy comedy based on the fashion dolls by Mattel, “Barbie” (PG-13). The movie will begin at 8:30 p.m., at Eastgate Park, located at 12001 St. Mark Street.
Spaces will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Event attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets. Movie snacks and treats will be available for purchase from local food vendor, C&M Ohana.
Garden Grove, Fountain Valley, Westminster, County Celebrate Completion of Central Cities Navigation Center
On Wednesday, June 5, 2024, the City of Garden Grove, in partnership with the Cities of Fountain Valley, Westminster, and the County of Orange held a ribbon cutting for the Central Cities Navigation Center, a referral-based, transitional facility offering emergency housing and wrap-around services to individuals experiencing homelessness from any of the three cities. The center, located at 13871 West Street in Garden Grove, is anticipated to open on Monday, June 10, 2024.
City Promotes Safe and Sane Firework Use, Warnings of Increased Patrol
As July 4 approaches, the City of Garden Grove, in collaboration with the Garden Grove Police Department and Orange County Fire Authority, reminds the community to take necessary precautions to ensure a safe and memorable celebration. Only safe and sane fireworks bearing the California State Fire Marshal seal may be discharged in Garden Grove on July 4, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., on private property only.
Camp Grove Summer Fun Openings Filling Fast
Garden Grove youth, ages 5 to 12, are invited to register for the 2024 “Camp Grove: Fun Under the Sun” day camp, a 9-week summer program filled with outdoor activities and excursions. The program runs June 10 through August 9, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Edgar Park, located at 12781 Topaz Street. Camp weeks are limited to a first-come, first-served basis, with some weeks nearly or already sold out. To register, visit ggcity.org/daycamp.

City Seeks Candidate for Opening on Planning Commission
The City of Garden Grove is seeking a qualified candidate to fill one opening on the Planning Commission by serving as a non-compensated commissioner. Applicants must be and remain a Garden Grove resident and a registered voter until the term expires in December 2024. The Garden Grove Community Foundation is looking for vocally talented local high school students to compete in the 12th annual The Voice of Garden Grove singing competition for a chance to win $500 and the title “The Voice of Garden Grove 2024.” Another $500 will be donated towards the winning student’s high school choir.
