Splashball (Ages 6–12)

Introduce your child to the exciting world of water polo with Splashball!

This USA Water Polo program teaches the fundamentals of the sport through fun, engaging activities designed to build confidence and water skills.

Led by experienced instructors, participants develop teamwork, coordination, and a love for aquatic sports in a supportive environment.

IMPORTANT PREREQUISITE: Participants must have successfully completed Learn to Swim (LTS) Level 2 – Sea Turtle or demonstrate equivalent swimming ability.

First Session: September 14

Junior Lifeguards (Ages 11–16)

The Junior Lifeguards program helps young swimmers develop valuable water safety and leadership skills while gaining an introduction to lifeguarding.

Participants will learn basic First Aid, CPR and AED awareness, drowning prevention techniques, water safety supervision, and common causes of aquatic accidents. This educational and engaging program is ideal for youth interested in building confidence around the water and exploring future lifeguarding opportunities.

IMPORTANT PREREQUISITE: Participants must have successfully completed Learn to Swim (LTS) Level 4 – Dolphin or demonstrate equivalent swimming ability.

Youth Volunteers

Youth ages 11–16 who are strong swimmers are invited to volunteer as assistants in our swim lesson program. Volunteers work alongside our American Red Cross certified Water Safety Instructors to help create a fun, safe, and supportive learning environment for participants while gaining valuable leadership and teaching experience.

  1. Complete the Swim Lesson Volunteer Application. You can download and print the application below or pick up a copy at any of our pool locations.
  2. Return the completed application to your preferred pool office or the Recreation Front Desk at Garden Grove City Hall (11222 Acacia Pkwy, Garden Grove, CA 92840).
  3. Once your application has been reviewed, a pool manager will contact you to discuss the program and schedule your volunteer hours.
