Garden Grove TV3 News Report: August 16, 2022

The City of Garden Grove recognizes our many heroes. These special people and organizations come in all sizes and shapes, and do a variety of little and big things to make life better here. The people nominated them and the City held a ceremony to honor these people, organizations and their helpful contributions at a celebration of Garden Grove Strong. Plus, US Representative Lou Correa presented a check for $1 million to the City for park improvements. The funding will be used to upgrade three parks in Garden Grove. GGTV3 Reporter Breanna Greenup has these stories.

Gente Market Opens in Garden Grove

Garden Grove's Historic Main Street welcomed a new attraction. The ribbon was cut and Gente Market opened their doors to the public. Founder Alexis Garcez says the store features items from eight different vendors and has something for everyone. The Gente Market joins a diverse group of businesses on Main Street, providing a wide variety of goods and services and an eclectic collection of food and beverage options. GGTV3 Reporter Breanna Greenup shares the story.

National (Drug) Take Back Event

The Garden Grove Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) are partnering up to allow the public to safely dispose of expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.

The DEA cannot accept liquids, needles, or sharps, only pills or patches. The service is free and anonymous, with no questions asked.

Garden Grove Strong Heroes' Reception

When things get difficult, a certain group runs toward the problem trying to find out how they can help. These are the people and organizations honored at the Garden Grove Strong Hero Reception. 40 heroes were nominated for things they did during the COVID pandemic. They were brought together at the Garden Grove Community Meeting Center to review their contributions, celebrate their generosity and of course to eat and take a few photos with the Mayor and City Council.
