Be Safe, Not Spooky This Halloween

As Halloween approaches, ghosts and goblins of all ages are getting ready to head out for trick-or-treating fun. To make sure the holiday stays as safe as it is spooky, the Garden Grove Police Department has put together a set of safety tips for parents, kids, and drivers. Let’s work together to keep Halloween safe and memorable for everyone.

Garden Grove Has A Beautiful New Playground!

The City of Garden Grove cut the ribbon on a beautiful new, citrus themed playground in Magnolia Park. Local kids and families scrambled to try out the new features which include an ADA accessible swing set, an orbital spinner, spiral slides and colorful play structures to climb. The renovations which include exercise equipment and a covered picnic shelter were funded with a California Proposition 68 Per Capita Grant. The remodeled recreation area has historical significance, built on property which was home to the Ernest Wakeham family.

Boutique Crafters Wanted for Winter in the Grove Holiday Event

The City of Garden Grove is seeking boutique crafters for the Winter in the Grove event, on Saturday, December 7, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Village Green Park, located at 12732 Main Street. Interested crafters must apply by Friday, November 8, 2024, at ggcity.org/winterinthegrove.

Examples of preferred boutique craft items for sale include handmade jewelry, floral decorations, wreaths, ceramics/pottery, handbags, soaps, oils, lotions, candles, and more.

Garden Grove to Participate in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

On Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the Garden Grove Police Department will participate in the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. The event gives the public an opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. Pills can be disposed of at the Garden Grove Police Department, located at 11301 Acacia Parkway, Garden Grove 92842. The DEA cannot accept liquids or needles or sharps, only pills or patches.

City Hosts Annual Jack O' Lantern Jamboree Community Event

The community is invited to attend the City of Garden Grove’s Halloween-themed community event, Jack O’ Lantern Jamboree on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at Atlantis Play Center, located in Garden Grove Park, at 13630 Atlantis Way.

Activities include train rides, inflatable obstacle courses, a bubble show, face painting, a pumpkin patch, carnival games, a reptile booth with educational shows, and more. Costumes are encouraged.

Garden Grove's Taste-of Event and Free Concert this Friday

The City’s Foods of Garden Grove Live event is this Friday, October 4, 2024, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in Village Green park, at 12732 Main Street in downtown Garden Grove. A first-time tasting event featuring an international selection of the city’s most acclaimed and customer-favored food and drink eateries will also include free live music at the Garden Amp and family-friendly activities. Admission to the event and concert are free. Tickets are needed for the food tastings.

Strawberry Festival Parade 2024 (Edited)

The Garden Grove Strawberry Festival Parade has delighted crowds for over 60 years. The colorful procession includes school marching bands, VIPs, Hollywood actors, equestrians and lots of home grown fun. Beginning on 9th Street and traveling east on Chapman Avenue, the entertaining cavalcade turns south on Euclid Street, entertaining crowds of admirers each Saturday morning of Memorial Day weekend. The parade is part of a four-day festival honoring the strawberry and contributing funds to local charities and nonprofits. This is the edited version of the live streamed event.
