Join Garden Grove City Council Member Arestegui for a "Walk & Talk" Around District 6

The City of Garden Grove and Garden Grove City Council Member Ariana Arestegui will host a “Walk & Talk” in District 6 on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Community members are invited to join the walk and connect with Council Member Arestegui, Mayor Stephanie Klopfenstein, and City Manager Lisa Kim. Participants can join at any stop along the District 6 route, below:

Garden Grove Teen Action Collaborative (GGTAC) - First Meeting

The City of Garden Grove invites local teens, ages 13-17, to join the Garden Grove Teen Action Collaborative (GGTAC), a program empowering teens to become future leaders in their community. GGTAC will meet every third Thursday of the month, beginning Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Meetings will be held at the Garden Grove Community Meeting Center, located at 11300 Stanford Avenue.

Gary Hall Pool Temporarily Closed for Repairs Starting July 24

The City of Garden Grove will temporarily close Gary Hall Pool at Eastgate Park for emergency repairs beginning Thursday, July 24 at 7:15 p.m., due to damage caused by fireworks. The pool is expected to reopen on Tuesday, July 29 during its regular operating hours.

Crews will drain the pool, repair the damaged plaster, and refill it as part of the emergency work. To complete the refill, a temporary fire hydrant waterline will cross Santa Rita Avenue, prompting a full road closure between Winton Street and Tunstall Street on Sunday, July 27, from 5:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

City of Garden Grove and Garden Grove Sanitary District Modified Waste Collection Schedule

Republic Services will operate on a modified pick up schedule with one to two days delayed service through the remainder of the week. Residential customers in Garden Grove should expect last week’s missed carts to be serviced today or tomorrow.

Residents are encouraged to place their carts at the curb on their regular collection day and leave them out until service occurs. Due to curbside service restarting citywide, the temporary waste collection sites have closed.

Police Department Hosts Annual National Night Out Community Event

The community is invited to join the Garden Grove Police Department (GGPD) at the annual National Night Out, a free community-building event featuring family activities, giveaways, live demonstrations, and raffle prizes on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The event will take place in front of the Garden Grove Police Headquarters, located at 11301 Acacia Parkway.

City of Garden Grove and Garden Grove Sanitary District Waste Collection Disruption Concludes

The labor-related demonstrations that disrupted waste collection in the Garden Grove Sanitary District have concluded, and Republic Services will resume normal commercial and residential trash pickup. Republic Services expects to have all service fully back on schedule by mid-week.

“Trash collection is a service our residents rely on, and I know how frustrating these delays have been. Thank you for your patience and for helping us keep Garden Grove clean,” said Mayor Stephanie Klopfenstein.

Additional Waste Collection Sites Announced for Grove Sanitary District

In partnership with the Garden Grove Unified School District, the Garden Grove Sanitary District (Sanitary District) will provide additional waste collection sites. Due to ongoing labor-related demonstrations, waste collection remains delayed in the service area.

Residential and commercial customers within the Sanitary District may utilize these free, temporary sites for solid waste. The Sanitary District has issued the following trash collection site guidelines:

As a result of ongoing labor-related demonstrations, commercial and residential waste collection services continue to be delayed in the Garden Grove Sanitary District (Sanitary District). Starting Friday, July 11, Republic Services will provide waste collection sites throughout the service area.

Residential and commercial customers within the Sanitary District may utilize these free, temporary sites for solid waste. The Sanitary District has issued the following trash collection site guidelines:

Heavy Traffic During Christ Cathedral Marian Days Friday, Saturday

From Friday, July 11, 2025, through Saturday, July 12, 2025, the annual Marian Days event will take place at the Christ Cathedral, located at 13280 Chapman Ave. During the 2-day event, heavy traffic is anticipated in the surrounding area, including:

• Eastbound Chapman Avenue, from Haster Street to Lewis Street
• Southbound Lewis Street, from Chapman Avenue to Lampson Avenue

Motorists are asked to plan ahead and use alternate routes to avoid delays.

Citywide
