Taste-of Event Features Evening of Local Food and Drink Favorites, Free Concert in Downtown Area

The City of Garden Grove presents Foods of Garden Grove Live, a first-time tasting event featuring an international selection of the city’s most acclaimed and customer-favored food and drink eateries. The event takes place on Friday, October 4, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in Village Green park, at 12732 Main Street in downtown Garden Grove. The event also includes live music, headliner to be announced, at the Garden Amp on Historic Main Street. Admission to the event and concert are free with tickets needed for the food tastings.

Homebuyer Day Offers Key Information, Resources for Buying a Home

The City of Garden Grove, in collaboration with NeighborWorks Orange County, a community-led non-profit helping individuals reach their housing goals, will hold a Homebuyer Day event on Saturday, October 5, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the Garden Grove Community Meeting Center, located at 11300 Stanford Avenue in Garden Grove. The event is for anyone interested in learning more about down payment assistance, understanding the home buying process, credit readiness, financing, and more. Admission and parking are free.

Local Teens Invited to Join Teen Action Collaborative

The City of Garden Grove invites local teens, ages 13 to 17, to join the Garden Grove Teen Action Collaborative (GGTAC), a program empowering teens to become future leaders in their community. GGTAC will meet every third Thursday of the month, beginning Thursday, September 19, 2024 through Thursday, April 17, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Meetings will be held at the Garden Grove Community Meeting Center, 11300 Stanford Avenue.

Historic Main Street Closed to Traffic Saturday for Autumn Moon Festival

This Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Historic Main Street, between Garden Grove Boulevard and Acacia Parkway, will be closed to traffic for the Autumn Moon Festival. During these hours, parking on Historic Main Street will be restricted but remain accessible to pedestrians, and businesses will be open.

The festival takes place from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Activities at the event include folk games, costume contest, lantern parade, and more.

City's Cooling Center Extended Through Monday

Due to excessive high temperatures, the City of Garden Grove’s cooling center will remain open today through Monday, September 9, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The cooling center is located at the Garden Grove Sports and Recreation Center, at 13641 Deodara Drive, in Garden Grove Park.

All ages are welcome to enjoy the center’s air-conditioned accommodations. Visitors will have access to the center’s lobby and restrooms. Food will not be available. No pets are allowed except for service animals.

Due to temperatures forecast to exceed 95 degrees, the City of Garden Grove will open a public cooling center on Thursday, September 5, 2024 through Saturday, September 7, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The cooling center will be located at the Garden Grove Sports and Recreation Center, located at 13641 Deodara Drive, in Garden Grove Park.

Garden Grove Police Department CALEA Reaccreditation

The Garden Grove Police Department is proud to announce that it has been awarded its 11th consecutive national accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). CALEA’s primary purpose is to improve the delivery of public safety services by maintaining a comprehensive body of law enforcement standards, establishing and administering an accreditation process, and recognizing professional excellence.

City Seeking Proposals from Organizations that Provide Technical Assistance to Small Businesses

The City of Garden Grove is seeking a qualified program operator to provide technical assistance and business support to microenterprises in Garden Grove. Through a Request for Proposals (RFP) process, organizations with demonstrated skills and experience providing services to low- and moderate-income individuals, who wish to either expand or establish their own microenterprise, are invited to submit a proposal for consideration by 4:00 p.m.

Citywide
