Funding Available for Garden Grove Home Repairs
The City of Garden Grove will open a new round of funding for its Home Repair Program on Monday, June 1, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. The program offers grants of up to $5,000 to qualified low-income Garden Grove homeowners for minor home improvements. Applications will be accepted through Monday, June 15, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. Grants awarded do not need to be repaid to the City.
CITY OF GARDEN GROVE IS SEEKING FEEDBACK FROM RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES ON EMERGENCY RESPONSE
The City of Garden Grove is seeking information from residents, businesses and community members impacted by the recent chemical emergency and evacuation orders associated with the methyl methacrylate (MMA) tank incident.
City Seeks Small Business Administration Economic Injury Assistance for Businesses Impacted by Chemical Incident
The City of Garden Grove is exploring opportunities to assist local businesses that may have experienced economic impacts resulting from this incident.
The City is currently seeking to obtain a U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) declaration to support affected businesses and eligible private nonprofit organizations. This program may assist businesses, including home-based businesses that have suffered substantial economic injury within the declared disaster area.
GARDEN GROVE CITY COUNCIL TO HOLD SPECIAL MEETING
The Garden Grove City Council will cancel its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, and instead convene a special meeting focused on the City’s ongoing response to the hazardous chemical emergency affecting the community.
The special meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, at the Garden Grove Community Center, located at 11300 Stanford Avenue, Garden Grove, CA 92840.
Garden Grove Strawberry Festival Parade and Strawberry Stomp Postponed
The 66th Annual Strawberry Parade and Strawberry Stomp 5k have been postponed; However the Strawberry Festival will continue. The City of Garden Grove, the Garden Grove Strawberry Festival and Sister City Association of Garden Grove made the decision in coordination with public safety and emergency response partners as City resources continue to be dedicated to an active incident response occurring elsewhere in the community.
Mayor Stephanie Klopfenstein to Give 2026 State of The City Address
Garden Grove Mayor Stephanie Klopfenstein will deliver her official address at the 2026 State of the City luncheon, hosted by the Garden Grove Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the City of Garden Grove. The ticketed event takes place on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Anaheim South, located at 11767 Harbor Blvd, Garden Grove, CA 92840. Individual tickets are $135 per person.
Heavy Traffic and Road Closures Expected During Memorial Day Weekend
Beginning Friday, May 22 through Monday, May 25, 2026, the 66th Annual Garden Grove Strawberry Festival will take place at Village Green Park, located at 12732 Main Street. Heavy traffic and road closures are expected throughout the four-day event, and motorists are encouraged to plan ahead.
Main Street, between Garden Grove Boulevard and Euclid Street, will be closed from Friday, May 22, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. through Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at 8:00 p.m. for festival activities.
City of Garden Grove Facilities and Services Schedule on Memorial Day
In observance of the Memorial Day holiday, the City of Garden Grove will follow the schedule below for its facilities and services on Monday, May 25, 2026:
Garden Grove City Hall
• Garden Grove City Hall will be closed.
Additional City Facilities
• The Atlantis Play Center, Garden Grove Community Meeting Center, H. Louis Lake Senior Center, and Magnolia Park Family Resource Center will be closed.
Garden Grove's 39th Annual "Call to Duty" Memorial
On May 14th, 2026, the Garden Grove Police Department held its annual "Call to Duty" Memorial Service. The special ceremony honored six Garden Grove Police Officers who gave their lives protecting the City.
