Additional Waste Collection Sites Announced for Grove Sanitary District
In partnership with the Garden Grove Unified School District, the Garden Grove Sanitary District (Sanitary District) will provide additional waste collection sites. Due to ongoing labor-related demonstrations, waste collection remains delayed in the service area.
Residential and commercial customers within the Sanitary District may utilize these free, temporary sites for solid waste. The Sanitary District has issued the following trash collection site guidelines:

As a result of ongoing labor-related demonstrations, commercial and residential waste collection services continue to be delayed in the Garden Grove Sanitary District (Sanitary District). Starting Friday, July 11, Republic Services will provide waste collection sites throughout the service area.
Residential and commercial customers within the Sanitary District may utilize these free, temporary sites for solid waste. The Sanitary District has issued the following trash collection site guidelines:
Heavy Traffic During Christ Cathedral Marian Days Friday, Saturday
From Friday, July 11, 2025, through Saturday, July 12, 2025, the annual Marian Days event will take place at the Christ Cathedral, located at 13280 Chapman Ave. During the 2-day event, heavy traffic is anticipated in the surrounding area, including:
• Eastbound Chapman Avenue, from Haster Street to Lewis Street
• Southbound Lewis Street, from Chapman Avenue to Lampson Avenue
Motorists are asked to plan ahead and use alternate routes to avoid delays.

Woodbury Park Revitalization and Expansion Project Breaks Ground
On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, the City of Garden Grove, along with architect David Volz Design, construction management Z&K Consultants, Inc., and contractor Act 1 Construction, Inc., celebrated the groundbreaking for the Woodbury Park Revitalization and Expansion Project, commemorating the start of construction to one of Garden Grove’s existing recreational spaces. The expanded 3.8-acre park will create a safer and more engaging space for families with a full remodel of this neighborhood park.
Free Bulky Items, Household Batteries Drop Off and Paper Shredding at July 19 Event
The City of Garden Grove and Garden Grove Sanitary District, in collaboration with Republic Services, will host a community cleanup day, offering residents the opportunity to dispose of bulky items, recycle household batteries, and obtain paper shredding services for free. The event takes place on Saturday, July 19, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at Garden Grove Unified School District Main Office, located at 10331 Stanford Avenue.
Garden Grove Police Department - Celebrate Fourth of July Weekend Responsibly
The Garden Grove Police Department reminds the public to celebrate the Fourth of July holiday responsibly by planning ahead by designating a sober driver, using public transportation or ride share or calling a cab. During the Fourth of July holiday period, beginning Monday, June 30 through Sunday, July 6, the Garden Grove Police Department will have additional officers on patrol looking for drivers suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
Foods of Garden Grove Live Returns this September by Popular Demand
Following last year’s incredible success, the City of Garden Grove proudly presents the 2nd annual Foods of Garden Grove Live. The tasting event returns to Downtown Garden Grove on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Village Green Park, 12732 Main St.
Enjoy an international selection of the city’s most acclaimed and customer-favored food and drink eateries, along with family-friendly activities and live music at the Garden Amp on Historic Main Street. Admission to the event and concert are free with tickets required for food tastings.
Temporary Basketball Court Closure at Magnolia Park Starting June 27
The City of Garden Grove announces the temporary closure of the basketball court at Magnolia Park, located at 11402 Magnolia Street, beginning Friday, June 27, 2025, at 7:00 a.m., with the project tentatively expected to be completed by Monday, July 7, 2025. The closure will allow for improvements to the basketball court, including resurfacing and crack repairs.
During this time, the basketball court will remain closed to the public. However, the remainder of Magnolia Park will stay open.
