Funding Now Available for Home Repairs
The City of Garden Grove announces new funding is now available for the City’s Home Repair Program. The grant program assists qualified low-income Garden Grove residents with receiving up to $5,000 to make home improvements. The grants do not need to be repaid to the City and are designed for minor home repairs. The homeowner is required to contribute a minimum of $500 of their own funds towards the repairs. Major repairs to the home that are above $5,000 will not be considered for the Home Repair Program. Applications for the Home Repair Program are available online at apply.ggcity.org.
Acceptable exterior and interior home repairs include, but are not limited to, window replacement, electrical repairs, pest control, interior and exterior painting, plumbing repairs, heater replacement (HVAC), handicap accessibility modifications, and repairs to address building or safety code violations in the home. Homeowners that are looking to repair or replace their roof can visit the City’s Re-Roof Loan program webpage at ggcity.org/re-roof-loan-program or by contacting Timothy Throne at timothyt@ggcity.org.
Eligible residents for the Home Repair Program must meet all program income and application requirements. Funding will be awarded to approximately 20 eligible applicants who are selected through a blind raffle.
The City will be opening the Home Repair Program application twice throughout the year. The first application period for the Home Repair Program opened on June 24, 2024 at 9:00 am and will close on July 8, 2024 at 4:00 pm. The second application period for the Home Repair Program will open on December 2, 2024 at 9:00 am and will close on December 16, 2024 at 4:00 pm.
