City Now Accepting Applications for Measure O Citizens’ Oversight Committee
The City of Garden Grove is now accepting applications for qualified candidates to serve as non-compensated members to the Measure O Citizens’ Oversight Committee. The Citizens’ Oversight Committee will serve as advisors to the Garden Grove City Council on matters of Measure O tax revenue, a one-cent sales tax approved by 65 percent of Garden Grove voters in November 2018. Applications must be submitted by Thursday, March 14, 2019, by 5:30 p.m. Apply online or in-person, visit the City Clerk’s Office located in Garden Grove City Hall, at 11222 Acacia Parkway.
Candidates must meet the following criteria to be considered for the position:
- Be a Garden Grove resident or business owner/representative.
- Be a registered voter.
- Be able to serve a 2-year term of office.
- Be available to attend regularly scheduled meetings.
The 7-member Citizens’ Oversight Committee will contain at least one member who represents the local business community as an owner or representative; a senior resident (age 62 or older); at least two members with backgrounds in finance or accounting; and three members of the community at-large.
In addition to serving in an advisory capacity on the receipt and expenditure of the fiscal year’s one-cent sales tax, the Citizens’ Oversight Committee will also review the City’s annual general fund budget, mid-year budget, and year-end audited financial information, and communicate findings to the public and Garden Grove City Council.
Appointments are scheduled to take place at the regular Garden Grove City Council meeting on Tuesday, March 26, 2019.
