Mainstream Vouchers
Mainstream vouchers are tenant-based vouchers that assist non-elderly persons with disabilities and their families. The vouchers are a part of the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program and follow the same regulations and program policies as the GGHA’s regular HCV program except that these vouchers assist a special population.
Participant Eligibility
- Vouchers must assist non-elderly persons (at least 18 and less than 62 years of age) who have disabilities and their families.
- The eligible household member does not need to be the head of household.
- Non-elderly persons with disabilities who turn 62 after admission can keep their rental assistance.
- Assisted households must meet all HCV eligibility requirements such as those related to income, citizenship or immigration status, and mandatory screening exclusions.
The GGHA was awarded 75 Mainstream Vouchers in 2020.
The GGHA maintains its waiting list for all tenant-based assistance, which includes Mainstream voucher assistance. When issuing a Mainstream Voucher, the GGHA will choose the first Mainstream-eligible family from its HCV waiting list.
Families who are currently on the GGHA Section 8 Waiting List with any member that is both disabled AND between the ages of 18 and 61 may qualify for Mainstream voucher assistance. Please call the Garden Grove Housing Authority at 714-741-5150 for more information.
