Cooling Center Extended Through MondayDue to excessive high temperatures, the City of Garden Grove will open a public cooling center on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The cooling center is located at the Garden Grove Sports and Recreation Center, 13641 Deodara Drive, in Garden Grove Park.
The City’s cooling center is activated on high heat days when forecasted temperatures reach or exceed 95 degrees Fahrenheit. The Garden Grove Sports and Recreation Center, located at 13641 Deodara Drive, in Garden Grove Park, will open as a public cooling center. Please call (714) 741-5200 for hours of operation.
All ages are welcome to enjoy the center’s air-conditioned accommodations.

When will the cooling center be activated?
The cooling center will be activated when the temperature hits 95 degrees. Residents will be notified as early as 24 hours prior or right before it opens, depending on the weather.
Are dogs allowed in the cooling center?
No dogs aren't allowed; however, service dogs are allowed.
Will food be available for purchase at the cooling center?
Food will not be available.
Is the cooling center only for Garden Grove residents?
No, the cooling center is open to the public.
