Winter and Spring Parks and Recreation Guide Offers Classes, Activities, Events

The Winter and Spring 2024 Garden Grove Parks and Recreation Guide is now available for viewing at ggparksandrec.com. The guide provides a multitude of programs, classes, activities, and special events through Tuesday, April 30, 2024. City Invites Community to Events and Programs Starting in Early 2024

The City of Garden Grove announces the following events and programs starting in early 2024.

  • Community Clean Up Days – The City is hosting six community cleanup days in an effort to help residents properly dispose of bulky items for free. The first event takes place on Saturday, January 27, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at Pacifica High School, located at 6851 Lampson Avenue. For more information, visit ggcity.org/cleanup-days.

Youth Welcome to Attend Upcoming Disaster Preparedness Training

Openings are still available for the City of Garden Grove’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Academy, which now welcomes youth, 14 years and older, to attend with a legal parent or guardian enrolled in the academy. The free 20-hour workshop will train individuals to prepare for and recover from disasters, as well as learn various life-saving skills. The program will be held on Thursdays, February 8, February 15, February 22, and Saturday, February 24. Class will meet from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursdays, and 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.

City Seeking Sponsors for 2024 Garden Grove College Graduates' Reception

Local businesses and organizations are encouraged to support higher education in the community and become a sponsor for the annual Garden Grove College Graduates’ Reception in June 2024. Sponsorships begin at $300.

Last year, thanks to the support of generous sponsors, the City of Garden Grove recognized over 70 local graduates during the reception. Graduates received local, state, and federal certificates of recognition, and over $8,000 in cash awards, gift cards, and services.

The City of Garden Grove Welcomes Ursula Luna-Reynosa

The City of Garden Grove held a welcome reception for Ursula Luna-Reynosa, introducing her as the new Economic Development Director. The reception was held at the City's Community Meeting Center. The Economic Development Director is responsible for attracting investment and creating wealth in the City. She will also oversee the Garden Grove Housing Authority and Neighborhood Improvement Division. GGTV3 reporter Angela Cranon was at the reception and has the story.

City Hall Closed, No Street Sweeping on Martin Luther King Jr. Day

In observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday, Garden Grove City Hall and the H. Louis Lake Senior Center will be closed on Monday, January 15, 2024. Street sweeping services will not be provided on the holiday, and will resume the next day. Trash pick-up will not be interrupted.

Student Exchange Program Brings 10 South Korean High School Students to Garden Grove

The City of Garden Grove is pleased to welcome 10 high school students from Anyang, Republic of Korea, as part of the Sister City Association of Garden Grove’s Student Exchange Program. The students will arrive on Saturday, January 20, 2024 to begin a 9-day stay in Garden Grove with local host families.

During their stay, the students will meet Garden Grove Mayor Steve Jones and the Garden Grove City Council, tour Garden Grove Unified School District high schools, and visit areas of interest in Orange County and Los Angeles.
