Upcoming Education Course for Garden Grove's First-Time Home Buyer Program
Prospective homebuyers are encouraged to attend an upcoming HUD-approved homebuyer education course, which is required to qualify for the City of Garden Grove’s First-Time Home Buyer Program. Eligible first-time homebuyers can apply for up to $110,000 in down payment and/or closing cost assistance at 0% interest through the program.
The 8-hour HUD-approved virtual course, provided by NeighborWorks Orange County (NWOC), includes information on budgeting and credit; lending and the real estate process; insurance; and down payment assistance. Participants will receive a certificate of completion, valid for one year, upon finishing the course. The course cost is $25 per person, and registration must be completed at least three days before the event date. Upcoming course dates include:
• Saturday, October 18; 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• Saturday, November 15; 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• Saturday, December 6; 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

On October 21, 2025, NWOC will host a free Homebuyer 101 Virtual Workshop via Zoom. The session will provide valuable information about the City of Garden Grove’s First-Time Home Buyer Program and NWOC’s homeownership assistance resources, helping potential buyers better understand the path to purchasing their first home.
