Community Invited to Presentation on Organics Recycling, Receive Free Kitchen Pail
The City of Garden Grove, in collaboration with Republic Services, invites the community to attend a presentation on the new state-mandated Organics Recycling program focused on residential food waste recycling. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at the Garden Grove Community Meeting Center, located at 11300 Stanford Avenue. Seating is limited. To register, visit ggcity.org/organics-recycling or call (714) 741-5344.
Attendees will receive a free kitchen pail used to collect food scraps prior to emptying into recycling containers. Kitchen pails are limited to one per household.
Topics to be discussed include the state’s organic waste recycling law, SB 1383, and the importance of organics recycling; waste collection service changes to single- and multi-family residents; proper separation of organic waste; and steps to mitigate unwanted pests and smells.
The new Organics Recycling program was created in response to California State Law SB 1383, requiring a reduction of organic waste in landfills to reduce emissions of harmful environmental pollutants, which enables residents and businesses to recycle all food waste and food-soiled paper in an organics bin.
