April 12 Last Compost Giveaway for 2025
On Saturday, April 12, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., the City of Garden Grove and Republic Services will host the last Compost Giveaway for 2025. Residents can obtain up to six bags of nutrient-rich compost for free, until supplies run out. The event will be held at the Garden Grove Municipal Service Center, located at 13802 Newhope Street. The event is open to Garden Grove residents only. Proof of residency is required.
The distribution takes place in the center’s parking lot on a first-come, first-served basis. Vehicles must enter from A Better Way, accessible from Anabel Street, north of the Garden Grove Municipal Service Center. Due to the popularity of the free event, residents should expect long lines. Bagged compost will be limited to six bags per household.
The annual Compost Giveaway is one way the City of Garden Grove and Republic Services thank the community for participating in the state-mandated SB 1383 Organics Recycling program, requiring residents and businesses to recycle all food waste, food-soiled paper, and yard waste in their organics cart.
