Pursuant to the California Public Records Act (California Government Code § 7920.000 et seq.) and Article I, § 3(b) of the California Constitution, we request a digital copy of the following records in possession or control of the City of Garden Grove:
Records requested :

A digital copy of records containing the names, rank/title, and hire dates of all persons (including officers) currently on payroll of the Garden Grove Police Department.
This information is not confidential and does not fall under any CPRA exclusions, as confirmed by the California Supreme Court ruling in LA Times v. POST (2007). If you contend that any portion of the requested records is exempt from disclosure by express provisions of law, we remind you that Government Code § 7922.525(b) requires the segregation and redaction of exempt material to allow the release of the remaining records. Additionally:

Government Code § 7922.535 requires that you notify us of any claimed exemptions no later than 10 days from your receipt of this request.

Government Code § 7922.540 mandates that any denial, in whole or in part, must be in writing and must include the name and title of the person(s) responsible for the City’s response.

Government Code § 7922.500 prohibits using the 10-day response period or any other CPRA provisions to unnecessarily delay access to public records.
