Request #8360

PUBLIC

I'm Amir Ghani, a student reporter with the Voice of Orange County, and am writing a story on the opioid epidemic and how cities in Orange County are helping to curb it via funds from the nationwide Janssen settlement fund. I have in my records from colleagues that Garden Grove allocated approximately $117,140.08 to spend toward this crisis. I'm writing to request an update on those funds and how they might have been spent since this past Fall, or if you know of any plans the city may have in place to use these funds in the near future.

Message from Amanda M Pollock

The City of Garden Grove has received $138,995.68 from the Janssen Settlement. The funds have not been spent as of today. The City plans to allocate these funds to our homelessness and mental health programs, as the majority of the population served by these programs are victims of opioid abuse.

Thank you,
City Clerk’s Office
City of Garden Grove
