Pursuant to my rights under the California Public Records Act (Government Code Section 6250 et seq.), I ask to obtain a copy of the following records related to Garden Grove City Councilmember Thu-Ha Nguyen, which I understand to be held by your office.

• A listing or description of Councilmember Nguyen’s salary or stipends from the City from 2016 to the present (or the earliest date for which such records are available).

• A description of the value of Councilmember Nguyen’s benefits package (including employer contributions to health insurance, life insurance, and pension) from the City.

• Travel reports, expenses claims, travel expense reimbursement claims, per diem statements, or other records related to travel and claims for reimbursement [including supporting documentation/receipts] filed by Councilmember Nguyen.

• Records describing any City-provided benefits related to a city vehicle issued to or used by Councilmember Nguyen (or an auto allowance benefit related to Councilmember Nguyen’s use of a personal vehicle).

• Records describing any other City-provided benefits related to a mobile phone, laptop computer, or other equivalent city-issued allowances for technology or mobile devices used or claimed for reimbursement by Councilmember Nguyen.

• Records describing any other City-provided benefits or perks not described above (e.g., health club memberships, child care reimbursements, etc.)

• Candidate filings forms submitted by Councilmember Nguyen in relation to her campaigns for Garden Grove City Council in 2016 and 2018, including, but not limited to, Declaration of Candidacy, Ballot Designation Worksheet(s), Candidate Qualification Declaration, etc. Please note, I am not requesting Councilmember Nguyen’s campaign finance reports (FPPC Forms 410, 460, 497, 501, etc).

Re: Request for Public Records – Notice of Extension City of Garden Grove

Dear Juan de Leon:

The City of Garden Grove has received your records request dated October 17, 2019, request #5118. This letter shall serve as notification of the City’s intent to comply with your request for public records, pursuant to the California Public Records Act (the “Act”) (Government Code §6250 et seq.).

The City is in the process of evaluating this request and is compiling records in an effort to make a determination as to whether the request seeks copies of disclosable public records in the possession of the City of Garden Grove. However, notice is hereby given that the time limit to make this initial determination under the code shall be extended by fourteen (14) days to November 12, 2019, pursuant to Government Code §6253, for the following reason:

(a) The extension of time is reasonable and necessary for the proper processing of the request.

As noted above, the City’s written determination as to whether the request seeks copies of disclosable, non-exempt and non-privileged public records in the possession of the agency shall be sent to you on or about November 12, 2019. Pursuant to the Act, thereafter any and all disclosable, non-exempt and non-privileged public records that are deemed responsive to your request will be made promptly available to you.
