Subject: Homeless mentally ill inmates
Good morning,
I am doing research on the homeless mentally ill in OC, and to get a complete picture I am looking at the number of homeless mentally ill people in OC jails. and would appreciate the data requested. If it's available online, please send me the url and I will get it from there. Otherwise, here is what I need.
For the most recent year for which data is available, I would like to know
a. how many inmates were incarcerated
b. how many of these inmates were homeless at the time of arrest.
c. excluding (b), how many of these inmates were homeless in the prior year
d. how many of the inmates in (b) or (c) were considered mentally ill
e. was the diagnosis of "mental illness" from self-report or from staff
f. On Jan 23, 2019 how many inmates were homeless and mentally ill.
g. If data on (f) is not available, what is the average daily census for homeless mentally ill inmates.

Per your conversation with Nick Hutchins on July 25, 2019, he explained that the City of Garden Grove does not have a traditional long-term jail facility but has a small holding facility only. All Garden Grove arrestee’s are either transported to the Orange County Jail facility or released from Garden Grove Custody with a promise to appear. It's his understanding, that you have already received all relevant records from the County, therefore you are withdrawing your Public Records Act.
