Dear Sir or Madam,

I am Ljubinka Andonoska, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Texas at El Paso. I am working on a larger project exploring the efficiency of city spending and the larger impact on the city’s fiscal policy. My sample includes all cities in the U.S. with population over 100,000 inhabitants.

I am reaching out to your city and department to ask your help with data collection. Attached with this email you will find an excel file with the list of (mainly) fiscal variables for the Fiscal years 2015, 2016, and 2017. All requested numbers are actuals.

Please note that this request is directed to your budget/financial office. As a person who worked in a budget office, I understand the level to which budget/financial offices are limited in time and personnel. That is why I appreciate your help with filling the excel file very much. Ideally, if you could email me the file in the next three weeks it will be excellent.

The information collected will be used only for academic research which will be presented at academic conferences and published in academic journals. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me via email or via phone.
