My name is Lin Zhang. I am a graduate student from a research team at Boston University working on gender issues in city government. Our project aims to measure the impact of female representation on public policy, as well as understanding the channels through which such an impact may occur.
This is a Freedom of Information Act request for the following information about municipal elections in Garden Grove City, CA:
- The date of each city council, city manager, or mayoral election that has occurred in the city since 2008.
- The name and gender of each individual who ran for office in each election and the vote totals they received.
- The name of each individual elected.
- In the case of city councils, the number of male and female councilors before and after the election.

The City Manager's position is not an elected position but is appointed by the City Council. Matthew Fertal was in the position from 2008-Dec. 2014. Allan Roeder was appointed as the Interim City Manager from January 2015 to August 2015. Scott Stiles was appointed to the City Manager position from August 2015 to the present.
