This email is in response to your request regarding housing voucher-holders in Garden Grove.
Per the Garden Grove Housing Authority:
1) The success rate is approximately 77% over the last five years. It does take longer now for tenants to find suitable units but eventually the majority of families with vouchers do lease up.
2) Lease up rate for the past years
2016-17 94.2%
2015-16 98.04%
2014-15 97.77%
2013-14 96.41%
2012-13 98.5%
Regarding utilization rate in term of funds spent, the past five years we have consistently used nearly all funds received from HUD, best estimate would be well over 98%. It is difficult to calculate the exact figure due to HUD’s adjustment of deposits throughout the year.
3) 1054 landlords under contracts
4) Currently, approximately 45% of voucher holders are disabled.
5) The City does not keep records of the success rate of voucher-holders with disabilities.
6) We currently have 100 Garden Grove tenants living in Anaheim, and 408 living in Orange County Housing Authority jurisdiction.
7) Currently approximately 8 Garden Grove tenants are living in Santa Ana. We do not have exact records for each of the five previous years.
