Subject: Mayoral Elections Data Request
To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to request public records regarding mayoral elections. I am a Research Assistant for Professor Jamein Cunningham in the Department of Economics in the College of Urban and Public Affairs at Portland State University and we are conducting research on local elections and economic outcomes. We seek to better understand the relationship between voter turnout and changes in governmental legislation and local ordinances.
We are requesting the following information from the city clerk, county clerk, or legal department.
1) Month / Day / Year of all mayoral elections between 1960 & 2010
2) Total number of votes cast in each mayoral election
3) The name of the winner and total number of votes
4) The name of the first runner-up and total number of votes
5) Political party of winner and first runner-up if available
I was able to find the information for all elections back to 1972 online, but I was unable to find data for elections taking place between 1960 and 1972. Any information on these remaining election results would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your assistance and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Please click on the link below to access the information requested regarding mayoral elections from 1960 to 2010. Please note: the office of Mayor did not become an elected position until the 1972 election. Before 1972 the position was appointed.
