Hello, I would like to submit a request for Animal Control statistics for cats for 2017 year-to-date. I have attached the information from 2015 and I am looking only for cats.

Cats were picked up (received) from residents homes and taken to the Orange County Human Society (impound).

The following information, provided by the City of Garden Grove Public Works Animal Care Services Department, is for cats only for January and February 2017. The information was taken from a report that was generated by our partner, Orange County Humane Society in Huntington Beach, CA.

January 2017
15 cats were received for impound
5 cats were turned in at shelter by the public (strays only)
9 cats were euthanized by OCHS
2 cats were adopted out

February 2017
25 cats were received for impound
4 cats were surrendered by owners
20 cats were turned in at shelter by the public (strays only)
21 cats were euthanized by OCHS
10 cats were adopted out

To Whom It May Concern:

The City of Garden Grove has received your records request dated February 13, 2017, requesting information regarding animal control statistics for cats for 2017. This letter shall serve as notification of the City’s intent to comply with your request for public records, pursuant to the California Public Records Act (the “Act”) (Government Code §6250 et seq.).

The City is in the process of evaluating this request and is compiling records in an effort to make a determination as to whether the request seeks copies of disclosable public records in the possession of the City of Garden Grove. However, notice is hereby given that the time limit to make this initial determination shall be extended to March 9, 2017, pursuant to Government Code §6253, for the following reasons:

(a) The extension of time is reasonable and necessary for the proper processing of the request.

(b) Responsive records, to the extent they exist, may be located in several different departments.

As noted above, the City’s written determination as to whether the request seeks copies of disclosable, non-exempt and non-privileged public records in the possession of the agency shall be sent to you on or about March 9, 2017. Pursuant to the Act, thereafter any and all disclosable, non-exempt and non-privileged public records that are deemed responsive to your request will be made promptly available to you.
