Dear Custodian of Records: Under the California Public Records Act § 6250 et seq., I am requesting an opportunity to inspect or obtain copies of public records that involve all animals that entered your shelter in October 2016, November 2016, December 2016 & January 2017.
The information I'm requesting includes: intake type, intake date, Disposition type, name of rescue if rescued, and disposition date.
The California Public Records Act requires a response within ten business days. If access to the records I am requesting will take longer, please contact me with information about when I can expect copies or the ability to inspect the requested records. You can email the records to me.
If you deny any or all of this request, please cite each specific exemption you feel justifies the refusal to release the information and notify me of the appeal procedures available to me under the law.

Dear Ms. Frederick:
The City of Garden Grove has received your records request dated February 13, 2017, requesting information regarding animals that have been sheltered from October 2016 through January 2017. This letter shall serve as notification of the City’s intent to comply with your request for public records, pursuant to the California Public Records Act (the “Act”) (Government Code §6250 et seq.).
The City is in the process of evaluating this request and is compiling records in an effort to make a determination as to whether the request seeks copies of disclosable public records in the possession of the City of Garden Grove. However, notice is hereby given that the time limit to make this initial determination shall be extended to March 9, 2017, pursuant to Government Code §6253, for the following reasons:
(a) The extension of time is reasonable and necessary for the proper processing of the request.
(b) Responsive records, to the extent they exist, may be located in several different departments.
As noted above, the City’s written determination as to whether the request seeks copies of disclosable, non-exempt and non-privileged public records in the possession of the agency shall be sent to you on or about March 9, 2017. Pursuant to the Act, thereafter any and all disclosable, non-exempt and non-privileged public records that are deemed responsive to your request will be made promptly available to you.
PLEASE NOTE: The County provided animal care services for the requested time period of October 2016 through December 2016, therefore the City has no records responsive to that request. Please contact the County of Orange Animal Care Services to obtain this information.
