Request #1965

PUBLIC

Dear Law Enforcement Agency,

The Orange County Register -- pursuant to the California Public Records Act -- is requesting all documents, records, email and memos pertaining to agency firearms that are lost, stolen or missing between Jan. 1, 2011 and July 5, 2016.

This includes, but is not limited to, any information that is reported to the California Department of Justice.

Additionally, we are requesting the names of the officers who were issued the said firearms; the names of the officers who reported the firearms lost, stolen or missing; the serial numbers of the firearms; the make, model and caliber of the firearms; the circumstances under which the firearms were lost, stolen or missing; and the dates the firearms were reported lost, stolen or missing.

Please provide the most readily available information, e.g. already prepared copies of reports filed with the state AG, promptly.

I request to receive the information electronically. If any of this information is exempt, I ask that you redact the exempted portion and send the public portion.

As you know, the CPRA requires that you help us identify how records are kept and how best to retrieve the information we are requesting.

Please direct all questions to the number below. Please respond upon receipt.

This is an addendum to the PRA Request sent by the Orange County Register. We were seeking the same information as our prior PRA request for all officers' private firearms that are lost, missing or stolen.
