Request #1752

PUBLIC

Hi Kim,

I hope you're well.

I just have some questions about the group that held the Tet Festival at Garden Grove Park in 2014. I recall that late last year the city rejected an application for the Vietnamese Community of Southern California to hold the festival again because it owed the city money and was wondering if you could give me a few details.

-How much did they owe and have they paid it back yet? If so, when did they pay?
-What were the costs for? Is there a bill or invoice sent to the organizers that I could see?
-Who was the main contact for this event?

Please feel free to give me a call. Let me know if I should contact another staff member for this inquiry.

Thank you very much!

Good morning,

The Vietnamese Community of Southern California hosted the 2014 and 2015 Tet Festivals at Garden Grove Park. The City didn't reject the proposal from VNCSC to hold the 2016 Tet Festival, however, the City did inform the organization that they would not be considered until they complied with all the terms of the agreement for the 2015 Tet Festival.

The amount for the 2014 Tet Festival was fully paid by VNCSC, however, there is an outstanding balance for the 2015 Tet Festival. Attached is a copy of the billing for the 2015 Tet Festival that outlines all of the costs the city incurred for the festival, as well as the outstanding balance that is still due to the City.

The City worked with several VNCSC members to conduct the annual festival. The Chairman for the Committee was Mr. Hoa Nguyen.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions. Kind regards,
