Garden Grove City Clerk,
My name is Alan Yan, and I am a student at UC Berkeley. I am conducting research with Professor Gabriel Lenz, and we are interested in Garden Grove's mayoral history. We were wondering when did Garden Grove have its first mayor? And, when did Garden Grove first directly elect its mayor if it did not start out directly electing its mayor? Is there an election archive with specific vote shares for the winner and loser for Garden Grove mayoral elections going back to 1960?

The election of the first Garden Grove City Council was April 17, 1956. The city did not have their first elected Mayor until the April 11, 1972 election. Attached is the list of election results from 1956-2014.
