Request #1687

PUBLIC

Good morning. I am writing as a request for information regarding the Neighborhood Improvement Committee. I would like to know who the members are, if they hold a city position and what that position is, what their mission statement or goals are and if possible to get any written minutes of their meetings and record of accomplishments.

Several East side residents are asking me about them and their purpose, which I am in the dark mostly.

Thanks in advance.

Dear Josh,

The staff-level NIC meetings are not open to the public. Opening them up to the public would raise multiple issues that could drastically change the ability of the committee to function. For example, the City's public commissions must post agendas, send public notifications of agendas and make sure that meeting locations are accessible to the public.

Sincerely,

Denise, are residents allowed to sit in / participate in the NIC meetings? The next is scheduled for April 13th and I am interested in attending. Please advise and again thank you very much.
