Greetings, folks. Teri Sforza from The Orange County Register here to bug you yet again.

I'm working on a story about public safety overtime. In 2013, several firefighters/police officers more than doubled their regular pay with overtime, and were among the most well-paid city employees in the state of California. Below are the pertinent details from the state controller's database, listed by agency name.

We are trying to understand, specifically, how this overtime happens. To that end, we're requesting the year's worth of time sheets for each of the positions listed below. ( LA City has asked us to provide names of its three firefighters to facilitate its search; we can do the same for your agency if the titles/numbers listed here aren't enough.)

We're also trying to get a couple of numbers from you for the last year you have, either calendar or fiscal:

--Total number of sworn fire dpt openings, and the total number of applications for those positions

--Total number of sworn police dpt openings, and the total number of applications for those positions
