The Bicycle Corridor Improvement Project (BCIP) is a $20 million grant program for projects that make bicycling and walking easier and safer in Orange County. Funding for the program comes from the Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement Program, a federal program that provides funding for transportation projects that help meet Federal Clean Air Act requirements and for implementation of goals from the Garden Grove Active Streets Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan.

What is the BCIP creating?

The BCIP includes creating new bike lanes by road re-balancing, thermos plastic striping buffers, installing video detection camera systems, bike loops at intersections, and adding wayfinding signage- adding up to a total of 15 miles of improvements along five major corridors.

This project originated through the City’s Re:Imagine Garden Grove initiative together with the Medal of Honor Bike and Pedestrian Trail to improve active transportation, and implement goals identified by the community in the Garden Grove Active Streets Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan.
