REQUEST RECORDS ON In November 2012 at a Garden Grove City Council Meeting, then Mayor Bill Dalton proclaimed Garden Grove a Purple Heart City. The designation honors those who have "shed their blood for this country," says Dannie Watkins who has two Purple Hearts. Signs are planned for a stretch of the 22 Freeway that goes through Garden Grove.
