In support of April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), the City is joining organizations, advocates, survivors and supporters from across the nation to bring awareness to sexual assault. The campaign, first launched in 2001 by the National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC), helps educate and engage the public in addressing sexual assault, harassment and abuse. This year’s theme is “I Ask,” highlighting the importance of consent.
The City encourages the community to take part in the month-long campaign by participating in NSVRC’s 30 Days of SAAM Instagram Challenge for the opportunity to win a $200 Amazon gift card, sponsored by NSVRC.
Participants are asked to share their response to each daily challenge by posting a photo on their personal Instagram account and using #30DaysOfSAAM, as well as tagging @NSVRC and @GardenGroveCityHall. Daily activities include tomorrow’s “Day of Action,” inviting the community to wear teal, the color for sexual assault awareness and prevention.
