Senior Volunteers of the Year Honored at 44th annual Strawberry Ball

May 14, 2019

Garden Grove’s sweet celebration of senior volunteerism, the Strawberry Ball, marks its 44th anniversary this year. The gala will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2019, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., in the Garden Grove Community Meeting Center, located at 11300 Stanford Avenue. All seniors are invited to dance the night away and enjoy the festivities hosted by the City of Garden Grove Community Services Department.

The special highlight of the evening gala is the introduction of the King and Queen of the Strawberry Ball, Bill Catlin, a long-time member of the Garden Grove Strawberry Festival Association and Garden Grove Elks Lodge, and Vera Ramirez, who has dedicated thousands of volunteer hours to the H. Louis Lake Senior Center for 13 years. In addition to being the regal duo, they have each earned the prestigious title of Senior Volunteer of the Year.

For 44 years, the City of Garden Grove has selected two special senior volunteers to be honored based on a multitude of service hours they have each provided in and around the community with various organizations.

Tickets are $25 per person and can be purchased at the H. Louis Lake Senior Center, located at 11300 Stanford Avenue. Advance reservations only. Price includes dinner and live entertainment.
