New Teen Olympic Sport Added to City’s Recreation Programs

Local teens, ages 12 through 18, are invited to participate in the City’s new “Youth Explore Archery” program. The youth program consists of two, 6-week sessions, held every Wednesday, starting September 4 through October 9, and October 16 through November 20. Classes will be held at the Garden Grove Sports and Recreation Center, located at 13641 Deodara Drive. Sessions are $30 for six, 75-minute classes.

Class times vary by age group:

  • Ages 12 through 14, 6:00 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.
  • Ages 15 through 18, 7:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.

Archery equipment will be provided. No prior experience is required.

The program is beginner-friendly and will cover range safety and basic range shooting techniques. Participants will learn the fundamentals of the Olympic sport in a safe, indoor environment, while building confidence, patience, focus, goal-setting, and leadership skills.

Good Shot Archery has partnered with the City and is offering participants a discount on equipment and lessons. Good Shot Archery is located at 10682 Stanford Avenue, and is a member of the City’s Buy in Garden Grove (BiGG) program.
