To our Garden Grove Community Members,
Governor Newsom has issued a stay at home order to help reduce the spread of the coronavirus. I want our community to know that the men and women of the Garden Grove Police Department are here to keep our community safe and continue to provide a high-quality service.
The Garden Grove Police Department has implemented protocols to keep our community safe while protecting the men and women who serve each of you. We have increased our patrol staffing levels and are deploying resources to our large retailers to ensure you all can shop in an orderly and safe fashion. We have closed our lobby, but vehicle releases will continue by appointment only. We will be completing reports over the telephone for non-emergency events to ensure documentation is accomplished while at the same time trying to minimize the potential spread of the coronavirus. Our Special Resource Team will be working with our homeless population to ensure we offer services and that public safety hazards are addressed. You will all see more high visibility patrol in our attempt to provide a safe and secure environment for our residents and the business community.
Governor Newsom has activated National Guard personnel to help with logistics. This is not Martial Law! Only 150 National Guard personnel have been activated to assist food banks statewide serving residents whose needs have not been met during the novel coronavirus pandemic. Food banks throughout California have been impacted by a serious decline in volunteers. The California National Guard will play an interim role at these locations until support can be provided by other public service groups at these food banks.
We will get through this by using the Health Department’s guidelines adhering to social distancing. I know you all have been inundated with information about how to protect yourselves but I thought I would provide the link to the OC Health Care Agency for you to view and share with family and friends.
I want to thank you all for your continued support and understand that every employee at the Garden Grove Police Department will do everything in our power to make sure you are safe and secure. We know these are trying times, but our Garden Grove community will survive because of the partnerships and trust we have successfully cultivated and maintained. Please call us at (714) 741-5704 if you need anything and don’t hesitate to call if you see anything suspicious.
