The City has developed a draft Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP) that will form the foundation for a long-term strategy to help the City better prepare for and recover from natural disasters. The community is encouraged to review the draft LHMP and provide input. The draft LHMP is available online at ggcity.org/localhazardmitigationplan, or at the following locations: Recreation Counter, located on the 1st floor of Garden Grove City Hall, at 11222 Acacia Parkway, and Garden Grove Public Works Department’s front office, at 13802 Newhope Street.
The deadline to review and submit feedback is Wednesday, January 22.
Comments can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com. Written comments can be dropped off or mailed to the Garden Grove Public Works Department, at 13802 Newhope Street, Garden Grove, CA 92840.
The City will host a public meeting to present the draft LHMP and obtain additional input. The public meeting will take place on Wednesday, January 22, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Garden Grove Community Meeting Center, located at 11300 Stanford Avenue, in the Constitution Room.
In accordance with the Disaster Mitigation Act (DMA) of 2000, the LHMP will identify the city’s vulnerability to natural disasters, such as earthquakes, floods, fire and severe weather, as well as set goals and objectives for reducing and eliminating the long-term risk to the public, property, and infrastructure.
With an approved LHMP, the City is eligible to receive Federal Management Agency (FEMA) pre- and post-disaster grant funding.
