City Invites Community to Participate in Public Accessibility Survey

January 12, 2020

In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the City is developing a 25-year Public Accessibility Transition Plan. An online survey has been created to help the City in the development stage. The community is encouraged to fill out the online survey available in English, Spanish and Vietnamese, by Friday, January 31, 2020. The survey can be accessed at ggcity.org/pw/accessibility-survey.

The City would like to hear from local residents and visitors, with or without disabilities, who access City-owned and -operated facilities, programs and services. The information provided will help guide the City in developing a plan that will suggest remedies to accessibility barriers; provide cost analysis; and create project scheduling.

Community meetings will be held in 2020. Dates, times, and locations will be posted next year.

Enacted in 1990, the ADA protects Americans with disabilities from discrimination. Ensuring a higher quality of life for individuals with disabilities, state and local government must provide an equal opportunity to services, including access to public buildings and participation in programs and activities.
