Public Meeting Cancelled

Due to a scheduling conflict, tomorrow’s public meeting to discuss the development of a city-wide Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP) has been cancelled. In lieu of this meeting, the City will keep the community updated on the progress of the LHMP, as well as a future community meeting, through regular press releases and social media posts via the City’s Facebook, @GardenGroveCityHall and the City’s website, at ggcity.org/localhazardmitigationplan.

For more information, contact Katie Delfin at katiev@ggcity.org.

The City is developing a Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP) that will form the foundation for a city-wide, cost effective, long-term strategy to reduce loss of life and property by lessening the impact of disasters. The community is invited to participate in the LHMP project by attending an upcoming public meeting, on Thursday, February 28, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at the Garden Grove Community Meeting Center, 11300 Stanford Avenue.

In accordance with FEMA’s Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000, the City’s LHMP will help individuals, businesses, and organizations recover from a disaster, including earthquakes, floods, and fire, by breaking the repeated cycle of damage and reconstruction. Additionally, only communities with a FEMA-approved Hazard Mitigation Plan are eligible to apply for both pre- and post-disaster mitigation grant funding. With grant funding, the City will be better positioned to respond and recover when disasters occur.

A draft of the Local Hazard Mitigation Plan will be made available in Fall 2019, on the 2019 Local Hazard Mitigation Plan
