GGPD to Participate in Annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics, Friday
The Garden Grove Police Department will be participating again, this year, in the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics on Friday, June 2 and June 9. This year, each team has been tasked with raising $1,000 for the Special Olympics of Orange County program. The deadline for donations is Wednesday, May 31, 2017. Donations can be made at the 2017 Law Enforcement Torch Run, Garden Grove PD website.
Every dollar raised through the Torch Run will help fund Special Olympics programs in local communities. Many of the athletes that run with the GGPD team are residents of Garden Grove. Special Olympics Orange County enriches the lives of athletes with intellectual disabilities, and their communities through sports, education, and athlete health.
The Garden Grove Police Department also invites the public to cheer the athletes on as they run through the streets of Garden Grove.
- Friday June 2, 2017; 8:00 a.m., at Lewis and Chapman.
The Garden Grove Police Department will run westbound to Harbor and Chapman and hand off the torch to the Anaheim Police Department.
- Friday June 9, 2017; 10:15 a.m., at Knott and Orangewood.
The Garden Grove Police Department will receive the torch from the Cypress Police Department and will run southbound to Knott and Garden Grove Boulevard, and hand the torch off to the Westminster Police Department.
